The FOCUS publication is in its eleventh year. An achievement such as this could not be possible without the continuing support and goodwill of our senior leadership, contributors and readers. The commitment and hard work of our contributors, the Systems & Performance Improvement Department (SPID) team, and support personnel continue to make this publication informative and pertinent to Ergon. We are pleased to announce with this issue a new look and format. We hope that these changes will provide you a pleasant and informative reading experience.

These are exciting times at Ergon. Our company continues to grow and expand in response to a changing world. With a pending joint venture between Ergon Ethanol, Inc., and Bunge North America, Inc., announced on May 1, 2006, our company will soon begin building a state-of-the-art ethanol production facility with an annual capacity of 60 million gallons. Ergon–West Virginia, Inc. has recently finished installing a diesel hydrotreater to help them produce low sulfur diesel. Process optimization and other improvements at Lion Oil Company have increased process capacity to 75,000 bbls of crude oil per day. Our company continues to build a strong track record and our management remains committed to growing our enterprise to serve our customers and markets.

Our Systems and Performance Improvement Department continues to help Ergon companies with implementing quality management systems and facilitating improvement activities to get the results that are important to Ergon. Congratulations to Ergon Asphalt & Emulsions, Inc., and to Ergon Trucking, Inc., on their recent multi-site compliance to the ISO 9001 quality management system! Their achievement and commitment to quality helps to assure they have a sound management system in place to better serve our customers. We also look forward to working with Ergon Asphalt Products, Inc., and Specialty Process Fabricators, Inc., as they begin their compliance process.

This publication continues to be about the employees of Ergon and helps provide a way for us all to stay in touch. We always welcome contributors to submit articles and other information to help keep us all updated about our company. If you are interested in contributing, please let us know.

We sincerely hope you enjoy this publication. We would love to hear your feedback and any ideas for future publications. Have a good Autumn!
